Entering December....

On the way to work today, I noticed that the Midland Town Hall was getting into the festive spirit with fairy lights added to the exterior. The hall contains so much Midland history and is one of the most well preserved buildings within the area. This is what is so exciting about December; everyone is joyful for the holidays and hopeful for the New Year. At Real Estate Plus, we see it as a time of preparation. We choose to focus on what we can do now to better ourselves in 2016.

This week, Milton ran training getaways for our staff, which focused on team building and goal setting for next year. He called it the “Hunger Plus Games,” where we travelled down to Camp Logue Brook and participated in a two day training retreat. The first day was very physical with more than 14 team-building activities and 90 per cent of them were outside. To explain the activities in a nutshell would be mud, water and lots of moving, so you can understand that by the end of the night we were all exhausted. The second day we focused on what we learnt the day before and setting goals for the future, both professionally and personally. The getaway is an annual event and every year after we have returned our overall team culture and performance has improved, so it is the best action we take preparing us for the new year ahead.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ken from Camp Logue Brook, who has been a dear friend and co-worker to Real Estate Plus over the past seven years. It is his hard working and flexible nature that allows us to have such successful retreats and Smith Family camps and his work never goes unnoticed.
