Remember When.....

This week we decided to share our Remember When which is featured in the Hills Gazette once a month:-

Being located on The Crescent, our office is extremely close to the construction of the new Quest Hotel and we get to watch the project taking shape.A hotel in Midland, who would have thought? This project welcomes exciting prospects to the area and in particular to this end of The Crescent. Once the hub of Midland, it has definitely become a lot quieter in recent times and we are looking forward to the rejuvenation.

I remember always visiting this end of Midland when I was a lot younger. One of the biggest draws was the local cinema, The Regent Cinema, which I have spoken about in the past. I was chatting with Matt who runs the Remember Midland page and he shared with me an image of Jimmy Deans Diner before it closed down. Jimmy Deans holds many great memories for me as we used to hold many of our family birthdays there when we were young. We always loved that they would sing Happy Birthday to you and you also got a sundae (sometimes we even pretended it was our birthday for fun). It was always such a great diner and we were very sad when it closed down. We also loved when BD games which used to be located next door, I remember spending many nights there trying to earn tickets to buy lollies.

I have so many great memories of Midland but am so excited for all the new changes that are happening. From the hospital to the hotel and proposed new university there is so many things for the locals to be excited about. We are lucky at Real Estate Plus that we are right in the middle of it.
We wish to thank the daughter of the last caretaker of the Helena Vale Racecourse who contacted us recently to share her memories of the racecourse.
