Remember when.....

We had a fortnightly article in the Hills Gazette and this time Sarah our Marketing Coordinator shared her excitement for summer:-

I start work at seven thirty each morning so in the middle of winter I leave home when it’s almost pitch black. Over the last week or so I have been thrilled to notice that the sun is rising earlier and when I leave its almost fully light. I have never been one to really despise winter but this year it has definitely taken its toll. I miss the morning exercise, the weekends spent outside and the general feeling of being warm. Seeing the sun when I leave in the morning is reminding me that spring and summer are on their way!

Lately I have been researching places I can enjoy the warmth with my beautiful golden retriever Henry and I have pleasantly been surprised to find so many great places to walk him, right near Midland and surrounding areas. One of the places I discovered which has been sitting right under my nose is the John George Trail from Viveash to Woodbridge. This trail is so peaceful and picturesque right on the Swan River. I also spend my days with Henry at the Whiteman Park Dog Park which is an amazing facility for dogs to be off their leads. I can also tackle Bells Rapids and Railway Reserves Heritage Trails which is only a short drive from Midland. It is awesome there are so many places you can enjoy outside with your furry friend.

John George Walk Trail

Matt our Marketing Officer and I ventured out to the John George Trail earlier last month to take some pictures and he was filling me in on the history of the Swan River and Govern Stirling High School. I went back to speak with Milton after and he explained to me how he remembers doing swimming lessons for school in the Swan River – a fact I didn’t know. It is great that we have so many new things in the area such as the Woodbridge Riverside Park but it is also cool to see that the Swan River is still as beautiful and an important part of the area as it was when Milton was learning to do freestyle many years ago.
