Fish Market Reserve

Growing up in Guildford, the Swan River and its surrounds were a playground for myself and my mates.
On our pushbikes, we would regularly visit places like Kings Meadow, Fishmarket Reserve and the Barkers Bridge.

We would swim in the river and challenge each other to see who would get to the other side first, throw a line in to try our luck with fishing, try to net a yabbie or build homemade canoes from whatever we could find to see which canoe could withstand the challenge out on the river.
It’s these memories with my mates that will stay with me forever.

While times have changed and most kids today aren’t necessary into the outdoor adventures, having such an asset like the Swan River on our doorstep is something that we should all take the time to appreciate.
Whether it is in Guildford, Woodbridge, Viveash or through the Swan Valley, there are plenty of areas available to walk, ride, fish or just relax by the Swan River.
