Update for our CEO Milton Rendell

2016 has taken a number of turns this year and unfortunately not in the direction we had hoped. Unemployment is increasing and we are now seeing businesses facing new challenges, especially in real estate. Now this is not the way I like to commence my communication with clients, but it is the reality of today.
In times of change you often see fence sitters and we are seeing lots of this at present with buyers thinking the market could drop further, as all the doom and gloom people pop up in this type of environment. With the fence sitters they simply won’t make a decision, they are spoilt for choice and tend to over analyse things. We have seen a trend of more complicated offers with more conditions, which in some cases are more like escape clauses for buyers but that comes with the territory of a tougher market.

It is hard to look to forecast into the future, with most current world issues being a total shock to the public for example, the recent US election and the Brexit. In Australia, the government are too having their own challenges. I think we need to look clearly at our own personal goals and how we can achieve them in this given environment.
Sometimes I wonder if we see and hear too much through the media, but that is part of life at Real Estate Plus. I know we have worked hard to improve in many areas to adjust to the market conditions and like most people, got some of it right and some of it wrong.  We certainly have not given up on our aim to deliver better solutions for our clients. I am constantly talking to our team about improving communication, a thing I think many avoid in this day and age. We communicate better when we are direct and solve rather than a series of emails and text messages, the personal touch still seems something we all long for.

Thank you to all our long-term clients and new ones for your support throughout the year and like you, I am looking for positives to break this current environment of negativity. Personally, I see the first step to change is accepting what is real and current and move away from hope as the only strategy.  You will never go anywhere without being a decision maker, the fence sitters usually miss out. Real Estate currently is the most affordable it has been for some time and when the market finally realises it, they will be complaining it is too expensive and the list goes on.

I am still looking forward to the rest of this year and as well as 2017. Things will evolve like they always do, that is human nature and today, and we need to understand what we really want in this market.
