I Remember When with Matthew Pavlinovich

2020 marks the 125th anniversary since the municipality and town of Helena Vale was proclaimed from the backbone of the Midland Railway Company of WA establishing themselves in the town and commencing the construction of the railway line to Walkaway.

25 years ago, Midland celebrated its 100th anniversary while being still in primary school I can remember the events during that year in 1995.  One of which I fondly remember when a former Midland Railway Company locomotive was organised giving school students an opportunity to commemorate the centenary with a train ride.

The train stopped at the former Midland Junction Railway Station platform on Railway Parade of which I believe was the last passenger train that used the platform.

Back in November this year, Midland and Districts Historical Society together with the City of Swan and WA Historical Cycle Club were able to commemorate the 125th anniversary with a weekend of talks, exhibitions and guided tours.

Midland has seen many changes over the last 125 years and in particular the last 30 years but every individual or business who has contributed to making it the great place it is today should be acknowledged.
